We are a firm of Chartered Financial Planners, with roots back to 1985 when Mitch Wilkinson established Wilkinson Hatton, one of the first fee-based financial advisers in the UK. Ever since, we have been at the forefront of good practice in the financial services profession, with the primary objective of delivering quality, impartial and practical advice to our clients.
Rutherford Wilkinson was created by the merger of Rutherford Financial Management Ltd and Wilkinson Hatton in 2002. The primary motivation for the merger was to create a business with the financial strength and sufficient capacity to create teams of advisers who specialise in their chosen discipline and therefore provide a more in-depth, knowledgeable and bespoke financial advisory service to its clients.
Today we are one of the largest and most successful chartered financial planners in the North East, boasting many household name companies and high-profile individuals as clients. Although committed to the North East, our clients are based across the country, demonstrating our commitment to offer them exceptional service and their willingness to look beyond their normal boundaries in order to obtain the very best advice.
We believe that the “one adviser does everything” model is out-dated. Our structure is akin to that of other professional services firms; dividing our staff according to their main disciplines and thus enabling them to specialise to gain a greater, more in-depth, knowledge of their specialist field. By adopting our approach to the provision of financial advice, it means that we can advise our clients at the highest level within our areas of expertise.
Our strapline, big enough to deliver, small enough to care
was not developed by a marketing or brand consultancy, but born out of client feedback as to how our clients perceived our service.
