Corbridge Youth Initiative

Our overall aim is to ‘Enable young people to have somewhere to go and something to do by providing youth-centred services in a rural setting’

We provide a range of services that aim to;

  • Reduce risk taking behaviour
  • Reduce rural isolation
  • Increase participation in a variety of sessions
  • Increase confidence and social skills
  • Enable young people to influence decision making

In providing these services we feel that young people will;

  • Have fun
  • Grow in confidence
  • Make new friends
  • Boost self esteem
  • Improve communication between young people, the management committee, youth partners and residents in Corbridge
  • Become more actively involved in their local community
  • Take greater responsibility for themselves and other young people in the area

CYI supports around 60 young people over the course of a year between the ages of 9 to 25 years old, who live in Corbridge and the surrounding rural area.

Hexham and Corbridge Youth Initiative ‘Growing Together’ 2017 joint project aims to bring both communities together to inspire young people to make the most of their leisure time in horticultural and environmental projects.
