The brains behind a new craft brewery on Hadrian’s Wall is a woman.
Brewer Red Kellie was chosen by the Twice Brewed pub to head up a brand new venture – ‘The Brew House’ – which launched its first on-site ale , named after the Wall’s most famous landmark, Sycamore Gap.
Red, who set up a successful microbrewery with Newcastle University students called StuBrew, has helped the owner of the Twice Brewed, Reuben Straker, set up the new tourist draw – a bar stocking the pub’s own beer which you can watch being made through a huge plate glass window.
Red is also planning a Twice Brewed best bitter with an ABV (alcohol by volume) of 3.9 and a stronger brew called Hit the Wall.
The well-named Ale Caesar will be an amber ale and there’ll be other seasonal additions.
