George Samuel Brewing Company

After much discusion we decided to bite the bullet and create our own micro brewery. We knew there was a strong market for real ale, so that wasn’t an issue however things like cost, space and not to mention what to call it.

So the space issue we decided that the only place we could put it is in a garage that was being used as a very untidy tool shed, after much tiding and trips to the local recycling centre we managed to create enough space.

Then in goes a new wall, ceiling, electrics and water supply. After fitting the benches and a few coats of anti fungle paint the space was ready.

As for the name our two sons are called Thomas George Ferriman and James Samuel Ferriman hence the George Samuel Brewing Company. Cost, now you can spend a fortune on a brewing plant however after much searching we found wayne at brewzone systems who was very helpful in providing a cost effective stainless steel brewery.

In April 2015 we moved to new premises at our home in Spennymoor County Durham with a slightly larger brew plant we now sell our ales to over 85 pubs in the North East and Yorkshire.

We recieved delivery of our new brewery in December 2014 from Brouwland fabricated it myself with 2x6kw stainless heaters in the HLT and copper and various valves etc.

As we were planning to move, the kit was unused until we moved to our new home in spennymoor.

After plumming and elecrics were sorted and changing to a LTD company, go ahead from council and HMRC.

Our first brew was a wheat beer called star spangled for the 2015 Durham CAMRA beer festival brew day was great and we won 2nd place.

Pleased to announce our victory at the 2016 Durham CAMRA battle of the beers.
